While Commander Vincent and the senior staff of DSK9 visit Rheuys for the Festival of the Kaiser from the Stars, the USS Tigerfish is sent on a mission involving a terrorist organization known as the Maquis, which is fast becoming a thorn in Starfleet's side. The organization believes that Federation membership will only cause Eif and Rheuys more trouble than it's worth, and has been conducting a campaign of terror against Federation interests in Sector 813.
A few months after the rise of the Maquis, the Command Staff of Deep Space K-9 receive a concerning report regarding a Rheuysian arms freighter that was ambushed, raided, and scuttled in what appears to have been a targeted act of piracy. All signs are pointing towards this being the doing of the Maquis, but soon, a new piece of the puzzle enters the picture; a Rheuysian arms dealer who only goes by Das Nummer has been secretly collaborating with the Maquis as a means of profiting from the newfound instability in the region.
Das Nummer is known by Starfleet Intelligence to be a habitual gambler, with a favorite haunt of hers being the neutral casino planet of Aberdeen VI. In order to bring Das Nummer in for questioning, Starfleet has dispatched the Tigerfish to bankrupt her so that she'll leave the casino and allow them to perform an extraction. However, Das Nummer's got quite a few tricks up her sleeve, to ensure that she doesn't go down without a fight... |
